- Basic knowledge of operating systems and system programming are required.
- We will further develop operating system's key concepts; e.g., scheduling, remote procedure call, and resource allocation in multiprogramming systems.
- Furthermore, basic understanding of Internet technologies are necessary. For example, basic concepts of TCP/IP and OSI 7-layer reference model are prerequisites of this particular lecture.
- In addition, basic understanding of cryptography and its applications will help you develop concrete understanding of Grid Computing; in particular, public-key cryptography, symmetric-key cryptography and public-key infrastructure lay the groundwork of Grid Computing today.
